AIA Kansas City: The American Institute of Architects

After twenty successful years, AIA Kansas City is moving. And we need your help.

As you know, AIA Kansas City is committed to providing our more than 940 members with quality programs, services and resources. During 2009, our chapter will have offered more than 50 programs to our membership including high quality professional development programs, design competitions, advocacy efforts, and the ever-popular social gatherings. Additionally, the organization is charged with promoting the unique perspectives of the architectural profession to the public. The value of these programs and services cannot be underestimated to our emerging and established professional members, but due to limited space and a lack of public presence, our current home is holding us back.

After two years of thoughtful consideration and options analysis, AIA Kansas City recently signed a ten-year lease to be the primary tenant in the first floor space at 1801 McGee in the Kansas City Crossroads District. This new space will give AIA Kansas City greater exposure to the Kansas City community as a whole and mark our presence as a leader in the Kansas City design community.

AIA Kansas City, thanks to a succession of dedicated officers and staff, is in solid financial shape. The enclosed reprint of a recent Building Blocks article describes the strategic process used to develop our multi-tiered fundraising plan that is completely voluntary. We are actively pursuing financial contributions from our member firms, our industry partners and “Friends of the AIA” as well as voluntary participation from our members.

We are asking all AIA Kansas City members to consider a gift for the construction of our new home. All gifts will be recognized when we move into our new space.
