The AIA defines an Emerging Professional (EP) as a student, recent graduate, or architect licensed within the last 10 years. EP’s play a critical role in envisioning the future of architecture, and as such, AIA Kansas City would like to celebrate firms that foster their professional development. Certification will be granted biennially to architecture firms that foster the growth of the next generation of architects. The Outstanding award will be presented biennially to firms that go above and beyond to offer exceptional support and development opportunities to their EP’s.
This survey is only the beginning – it serves as a stepping-off point for firms to engage with their EP’s and solicit input regarding their policies and offerings. These discussions will help firms evaluate their current benefits, identify future benefits, and deepen the understanding of EP’s needs. Aggregated data collected in this survey will be represented graphically and available on the AIA Kansas City website to offer reference points and statistics specific to the KC area.
The survey is intended to be completed in tandem by a firm principal and an Emerging Professional. The Emerging Professional should have a strong understanding of firm policies and knowledge of their peer’s status with the NCARB licensure process. One submission per firm.
The first round of EP Friendly Firms will be reviewed and listed here by December 9, 2026.
